PLT ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP & YEAR-END DONATION DRIVE

Dear Prospect Land Trust Members and Friends,

I want to wish you all Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year, 2015!

2014 has been an exciting year for the Prospect Land Trust (PLT). It is hard to believe that it is almost over.  You should feel proud of being a PLT member and of all the things that your land trust has accomplished this year.

Sometimes the conservation challenges we face are not just threatened species and a changing climate. We can make a difference by supporting open space conservation efforts right here in Prospect. This will serve as a gift to our children and grandchildren.

Over the years Prospect has seen tremendous growth. As the population increases, it is important that we ensure the preservation of land as open space. The PLT currently owns over 138 acres of property. The land that we acquire by donation, conveyance or conservation easement can never be developed for homes or businesses. The PLT Board of Directors recognizes to remain viable, the PLT must experience growth in increase property holdings, expansion of membership, and providing more opportunities for the community to participate in PLT sponsored educational events, seasonal hikes, and family oriented activities.

It is time for Prospect Land Trust’s (PLT) Annual Membership Renewal and Year End Donation Drive. Without your support, we would not be able to acquire & preserve land in our community, pay our insurance or function as a volunteer nonprofit, apolitical organization. As you may know, we do not receive any money from the town budget. Membership dues and donations (and the occasional small grant) are the PLT’s only sources of revenue.

PLT properties will be protected and preserved as open space for the benefit of our whole community for today, tomorrow, and future generations.

Your contributions are tax- deductible and will assist the Prospect Land Trust with its mission to “acquire, maintain, and manage property in the Town of Prospect so that wetlands and watercourses, farmlands, woodlands, and other significant lands can be preserved in their present state, thereby protecting them for their scenic, natural, and historical value and for educational and recreational benefits for present and for all future generations.”

Thank you!
Sincerely,
H. William (Bill) Rinckel
Prospect Land Trust Board President
