PLT Upcoming Prospect Land Trust weekend and a Special Message to ION Bank Customers

February 3, 2015

Dear Prospect Land Trust Members and Friends,

I hope you are enjoying the winter weather. For me, spring cannot come soon enough.

We are planning our annual Prospect Land Trust weekend. On Saturday, April 25, we will be having an Owl Walk led by PLT Board member John Triana. The details are still being worked out, but please mark your calendars. On Sunday, April 26, we will be having our Annual PLT Dinner/Meeting. It will be held at Mirabelle's Italian Restaurant on 50 Waterbury Road, Prospect, CT. We will start with cocktails (cash bar) at 5 and dinner at 6. Members will receive an invitation via the US Mail in mid-March.

We have been made aware of a special opportunity for the PLT customers of ION Bank.  ION Bank is in the midst of their 6th Annual Community Awards Program. ION Bank will donate a proportional share of $50,000 to each non-profit that receives at least 1% of the total votes. Last year, organizations needed just 24 votes to qualify for an award.  The maximum award is $5,000. If you are a customer of ION Bank, you can vote online at ionbank.com or at a Computer CafĂ© in any one of the 17 branches until March 31.

Just a reminder to please submit your Prospect Land Trust’s (PLT) Annual Membership Renewal and Year End Donation, if you have not done so. You still have time. I have included a form on the next page. As you know, without your support, we would not be able to acquire & preserve land in our community, pay our insurance, or function as a volunteer nonprofit, apolitical organization. We do not receive any money from the town budget. Membership dues and donations (and the occasional small grant) are the PLT’s only sources of revenue.

As always, please let me know if you have any ideas, suggestions, and comments by sending a note to PLTPCT@aol.com, and feel free to share or forward this email to your friends or neighbors who might be interested in helping the Prospect Land Trust.

Visit our PLT blog / website, periodically and “bookmark” the site.  This is where we post all of the details of our activities and notifications, including cancellations and re-scheduled events.   http://prospectlandtrust.blogspot.com/

Our mission is to acquire, maintain, and manage property in the Town of Prospect so that wetlands and watercourses, farmlands, woodlands, and other significant lands can be preserved in their present state, thereby protecting them for their scenic, natural, and historical value and for educational and recreational benefits for present and for all future generations.

Thank you!

Sincerely,

H. William (Bill) Rinckel

Prospect Land Trust Board President
