Thank you to everyone who has renewed their membership, became a new member or simply made a donation to the Prospect Land Trust. It can not be stressed enough how much of a difference you have made by contributing toward the preservation of open space that will benefit future generations in perpetuity.

Many of you have shown your commitment to this cause by donating to our new scholarship fund. By investing in a young adult’s future, you convey a clear message signifying that their career that they have chosen to pursue in the environmental sciences is appreciated, sorely needed, and highly valued. Now that is a big deal!

Below you will see a run down on how dues/donations are utilized by Prospect Land Trust. You will note that we truly do operate on a shoestring budget and nothing goes to waste. It is our sincere hope that revenue received through membership dues and donations will continue to grow, so that our educational/community outreach activities can expand and we can afford to offer bigger scholarship awards to our future environmental students.

The Prospect Land Trust would also like to establish an ongoing land acquisitions account so that we may someday purchase additional open space parcels in the Town of Prospect. There are also many grants that are available for this purpose, but without matching funds in place it would be extremely difficult to qualify. With that said, Prospect Land Trust is thankful for the generous donations of land from property owners thus far. Without their generous support comprised of 144.57 acres of land trust property plus another 4.78 conservation easement from the Town of Prospect, there would be no hiking trails, no wetlands and no undeveloped open spaces – quite frankly, there would be no Prospect Land Trust. Hopefully, their acts of charity and service to the community will serve as a shining beacon for others to follow in coming years.
