The Prospect Land Trust held
its 25th Annual Fall Hike October 21. Over 35 hikers participated in the
hike including Girl Scout and Boy Scouts from the area. Despite the cold and
windy weather, everyone had an enjoyable day.
This year’s hike covered two
different properties. The first section of the hike brought the hikers through
Prospect Land Trust’s Kathan Woods trail system with a focus on its blue and
yellow blazed trail. The second stretch of the hike lead the hikers through the
neighboring Regional Water Authority (RWA) property which at this time is not
open to the public but is part of what is hoped to be a future extension of the
Quinnipiac Blue Trail.
We are grateful to Suzi
Porter who passed on many interesting facts tying in the land trust trail to
areas of “old Prospect.” All of the children received acorns to plant from
Connecticut’s Charter Oak Tree, thanks to John Triana.
