National Trails Day Hike
Sunday June 6, 2010 10am to 1pm
Prospect Land Trust will be joining the planned hike of the Hamden Land Conservation Trust www.hlct.org and Regional Water Authority naturalist, John Triana, Jim Sirch and Andy Brand, on a 3-mile hike through an open, upland forest on Gaylord Mountain in Hamden. This educational hike will help us learn to identify native plants and animals, and also how to recognize invasives. The property to be hiked consists of 51 acres of forest, brush, and ledge, suitable for hiking. The hike is listed as moderate (gently rising terrain with a likeliness to encounter occasional obstacles). New and experienced hikers welcome. Sorry but no dogs permitted. This land is held in conservation easement by HLCT. South Central Regional Water Authority owns the land itself. Public access and parking is available at the end of Deer Hill Road cul-de-sac (Hamden) or if you would like to join us we will be meeting and carpooling from Saint Anthony’s Church Parking lot in Prospect at 9:30am. Heavy rain cancels. Pre-registration is recommended. Questions and to register: contact Jim Sirch, james.sirch@yale.edu
