Membership Update

 

Just as the seasons change, so do organizations. We have strived over the past nineteen years to make decisions that reflect our mission – and that will never change. It is becoming more difficult however for us to pay our increasing expenses (just as it is for many individuals). It is with this in mind that the Board of Directors, after much discussion, has voted to increase membership fees. This decision did not come easily and will become effective as of January 1, 2014.

Your membership in the Prospect Land Trust affirms your commitment to open space preservation in Prospect. Whether you are a new member or a long time member, we appreciate your support and value the contributions you have made to make the Prospect Land Trust a success. Since it’s inception, The Prospect Land Trust has become a respected community organization.

Over the years we have kept careful track of our expenditures and sought to use dues money in the most cost effective manner. In reviewing our finances, we have determined that the current level of dues will no longer cover the cost of expenses. The primary reason for the rise in expenses is the significant increase in our insurance costs.

Therefore, the board has voted to increase Prospect Land trust dues for the first time since the land trust was established. Individual dues will increase from $10 to $20. Family dues will increase from $15 to $25. The dues will go into effect January 1, 2014.

We appreciate your understanding of the need to increase our dues. We thank you for you’re past support and look forward to your continued support. Should you have any questions regarding the dues increases please contact us.

If the membership renewal is paid BEFORE JAN.1, THE DUES WILL REMAIN AT THE CURRENT LEVEL. After Jan. 1 the increase at each level will be in effect. In addition, the membership renewal form for the following year will come to you each fall as part of the newsletter in an effort to eliminate additional postage fees. Membership cards or acknowledgement of membership renewals will be sent out after the new year as part of the spring newsletter.
