Morning Sunshine + Birding = Good Health

Thanks to John Triana for leading us on a bird walk December 8th around the pond at McGarth Park and Long River Middle School. It was a wonderful crisp and cool morning that was warmed not only by the morning sun on our backs but by the sights/sounds of 19 identified birds. Here’s the run down of who was also enjoying the morning sunshine with us. Hopefully this will inspire those of you who missed the walk to get out there and enjoy the sights/sounds of birding. As you can see, it is as simple as heading out to one of our local parks here in town or along one of the many hiking trails that are located at the Prospect Land Trust’s College Farms, Summit Heights and Kathan Woods properties.

Interested in learning more about Birding there is an excellent group you can join that is also right in your own backyard (so to speak) and that is The New Haven Bird Club. Established on April 3, 1907 it is one of the oldest birding groups in the US and offers many opportunities for recreation and education in bird watching. The NHBC is also dedicated to conservation of natural resources in New haven and surrounding areas.
