This Saturday 5/11/19 at 1:00pm we will be holding our 2nd Helping
Hands Event at the Garden site. So, if you missed last week and wanted
to help out not to worry because there is plenty to do.
Upcoming tasks
that need to be done are as follows & the amount of work that is
completed all depends on the amount of Helping Hands that show up. ANY
HELP that you can provide is greatly appreciated and will help to create
this wonderful new space in our community.
Things to do (dependent on # of people – in order of priority):
1. Cross ditch – Put pipes down and cover with wood chips to have wheel barrows cross.
2. Planting – We can plant at least 35 of the 100+ plants we bought.
We could go up to about 64 if we have enough time and people.
3. Invasives – Use manual or gas-powered weed whacker to cut down Japanese knotweed and mugwort.
4. Deer protection – Build and/or install deer protection around some plants.
5. Sod – Shake soil from pieces of sod removed last week. Use soil as
needed. Put sod to side for possible return to disturbed areas in
wetland the following weekend.
Meet at the Long River Middle School parking lot. Please bring shovels,
rakes, and other gardening tools and remember "Many Hands Make Light
Work" so the more the merrier.
